The opening lines of the project were, “Should have died already”, setting the tone for the almost hour and a half long release. Fans praised Miller’s rapping and beats on the project, but immediately acknowledged that the rapper was in a dark place. These releases can be grouped together as his first big commercial successes, both came with their consequences for the rapper behind the music however, as the success and riches led him down a darker road, and ultimately to his substance abuse.įaces, Mac Miller’s 2014 mixtape was when things came to a head. Miller’s early musical career began with releases such as Blue Slide Park and Watching Movies with the Sound Off, with most individuals being aware of his wildly successful single, Donald Trump. Now, given what I know now about Miller as a person, through him becoming increasingly vocal about his personal demons and substance abuse in the past, that performance can be looked at and forgiven. From what I remember of his performance a little over 6 years later is hazy, but I do remember him conveying the feeling of not caring, giving off the vibe that he did not want to be there. I was yet to be listening to much hip-hop at that time, and was still in middle school, yet I found myself watching him perform at the last ever Bamboozle Festival in Asbury Park during May of 2012. The first memory I have of hearing about Mac Miller was in 2012. However with his last two releases, 2016’s The Divine Feminine and 2018’s Swimming, Miller has completely reinvented and matured as an artist, and has gained a huge supporter in myself. I did not hate him as a person, but his music, his personality, and everything else that came along with his musical presence.

Just sounds like hes doing a concert in a sewer lol Comment by AMG 5.Truth be told, I used to hate Mac Miller.
